Re: Hand Shakes ! do we need them ?

point taken John.but it still does not stop me having my opinion on such matters. thus when county FAs ask for input i am more than happy to say whats the point of having it when most player shake hands after matches anyway.it may help send out the right signals in the professional game, but in recent weeks even they have suspended such matters, so if an Official assess that it may not be in the interest of the game in hand, perhaps he/she should be given the powers to suspend it to. personally i would like to see the managers and coaches shake hands to....as they are part of the teams, but they dont. and most people know thats where most of the disrespect comes from. and thats normally because they are not aware of the LOAF. managers arguing over the simplest of offencess because they are not aware of them. they should take a good long look at themselves before critising officials. as for the players, they shouldnt be treated like children either. officials would then give them the respect they deserve to, not that they dont anyway.RESPECT is the main issue and not the HANDSHAKE.

Re: Hand Shakes ! do we need them ?

Although I do not comment so much on the Forum I do take a keen interest in the subjects discussed.Firstly the BADSFL is a FA designated Respect League and as such all clubs sign up to the Respect Program when affiliating to the league. At the start of the past seasons all referees officiating on the league received a letter, signed by the President, in which referees were asked to ensure that Respect Handshakes were conducted. It is, as previously mentioned, contained in the Standard Code of Rules which are incorporated in the league rules. It is not to the referees credit that they choose to breach the rules. I would go as far to suggest that they bring the NRA and the RA into disrespect.
